Antique Japanese
Fishing Floats

Imagine how a piece of glass survives the Pacific Ocean for 100 years and washes up on a shore in Alaska. Around 1910 Japan began manufacturing and using glass fishing floats. Most floats are shades of green because the glass used was primarily recycled sake (wine) bottles, but clear, amber, blue and other colors were also produced. Beautiful and amazing.
